Reviews – Grey Seal Cottage

  Another fabulous stay

Returned to this wonderful cottage the same week as last year. Sparkling clean on arrival, nice welcome pack to greet us. We arrived a little early but the cottage was already available. Very well equipped, cosy and warm, even more so when we got the fire going. Fabulous huge bath to soak in after our long walks. Wells is a lovely town with lots of nice independent shops, a fab butchers, lots of great places to eat out. A large Co-op just around the corner for all your essentials if you decide to stop in. Great walks from the doorstep. Walk along the spit to the beach, all the way to Holkam bay, up to Holkam hall and around the grounds, then back again, (a pint in the Victoria half way!). Did a lovely circular walk setting off from Sheringham park, (left the walk print out in the red box), 8 mile circular taking in the forest and parkland of Sheringham, Weybourne, the coast path and back again. Walked the coast path to Stiffkey, Red Lion for lunch, (very good), also onto Blakeney, lunch at the Kings Arms, also good. Holt is a nice day out, cute market town with some nice retail therapy for a change. Did Brancaster bay, spectacular huge beach, if you turn left as you get on from the car park and walk up to the creek, then follow that inland for a few hundred metres, you will come to a couple of big ponds, if you sit and wait the 3 seals that live there will pop out and come see you for your own private show. What a treat! Other nice places to eat out, The George at Cley is very good, a real treat is the Dabbling duck at Great Massingham, just off the A148, about 20 mins drive, well worth it. The North Norfolk coast is well worth a visit, great for families, great for couples, great for dogs. Lots and lots to do. If you do go, stop at grey seal cottage, it really is a wonderful place to stay and Jane the owner will do anything to make your stay a memorable one.

 Cosy and inviting

This is the third year we have stayed at Grey Seal and have had another lovely week. As soon as we arrive we feel totally relaxed. The cottage is cosy and inviting and yet little extras make it feel luxurious as well. The sun room is a super place to sit for breakfast and an evening meal and the garden is a great bonus for children, dogs and BBQs. I would absolutely recommend this cottage for someone who wants the convenience of being in the town without been in the central ‘hub’.

 A lovely cottage,

perfectly placed as could walk to the harbour and shops but away from the traffic and crowds. The garden was fantastic and secure, my dog loved playing football and having space to explore. it was cosy, homely and very comfortable. we will definitely be returning.

A picture postcard cottage in a picture postcard village.

A lovely period property, can walk to everything and local pub is ace. Great place for pubs, walks and views. Cosy evenings by the fire was the perfect end to the day!

Delightful cottage in magical Wells

We spent seven fabby days at this extremely well presented cottage and never went out of the village during our stay! We have visited the area before and returned to eat Brancaster oysters (the best in the country, and we have tried lots) as well as explore the local area, particularly the beach. We arrived on a beautiful sunny, crisp winters morning and found an extremely clean and comfortable home for the week. Everything we needed was provided, even biscuits and a bottle of wine! We received very clear instructions before our arrival on accessing the cottage and once there all the information we needed for appliances, heating and places to visit were to hand. We managed to light the real fire every afternoon and watching the flames and listening to the crackling coals was bliss with an early evening glass of wine. We spent a marvellous week exploring the area on foot and the weather for the first week of December was very kind to us. The actual village of Wells has some very interesting small shops providing everything you could possibly want, most of which were beautifully decorated for Christmas. Staithes Street was hung with colour changing lights zigzagging all the way down to the harbour where three large lighted Christmas trees adorned the harbour. It was quite magical. Although the cottage provided cooker and microwave, we ate out every night. We would particularly recommend the Wells Crab House where we partook of the lovely oysters and the Bowling Green Inn just 50 yards down the road – great to stagger to after a long hike. Wells Deli on the harbour front was very welcoming for coffee and snacks during the day. Thank you Jane for letting us into your cottage. We loved it so much we plan to return next year.

Grey Seal Cottage – absolutely amazing

Our Christmas as Grey Seal cottage was idyllic! It was everything I wanted it to be and more. It is in a fantastic location with a county pub a stones throw away. The cottage is of a high standard. It has a Christmas tree and a open fire – reminded us all of the cottage in the film the holiday. A well equipped kitchen that was ideal to cook Christmas dinner in. We have come away feeling so relaxed. I highly recommend this cottage and Jane is a fantastic host – we will be back. Thank you!

You will not regret booking this cottage.

This cottage is perfect to get away and relax. From the beginning Jane made it so easy. The communication was so good. The cottage was clean and has all that you would want, from off road parking to a choice a beautiful shower or a deep soak in the bath. To sitting in front of the cozy fire or taking long walks on your door step. You will get the character of an old cozy cottage to the up to date kitchen and bathroom. I would recommend to friends but not too many in case it becomes full when I want to rebook. You will not regret booking this cottage.
